moviebuff added 1 item to The Most Insulting Movie Moments list
For the critics disliking this movie, but audience loving it, I usually stay neutral in these situations. However, I cannot because of the subject matter. When a recently laid-off Louisa gets a new job for taking care of a paralyzed man named Will, it seems they won't get along, but they do, which then blossoms into love. But what's insulting is that the subject matter. Along the way, Will shows Louisa how to live life outside her comfort zone in the next six months. And they live happily ever after, right? Fucking wrong? He commits suicide. That's because he feels he couldn't live life in a wheel chair and feels like a burden towards his parents. I would buy it if this was in the first few months because of the pain, but this two years. He would accept his situation.
The average movie-goer would say this is just a movie, but I consider it despicable because it's not just a movie it's going as far as being a fucking state that all physically disabled people, especially those in wheelchairs, are just burdens and better off dead. This is fucking insulting to make the people who like this movie is a romantic tragedy.
